Locating your furnace

Your Authorized Greenwood dealer will provide installation and instruction for the use of your Greenwood system. The following are a list of considerations your professional installer will discuss with you regarding the location of your wood boiler.

Greenwood Furnace Series

  • The Greenwood Furnaces are designed for indoor installation - basements, garages, sheds, and outbuildings.
  • Furnaces should be mounted on a non-combustible floor (masonry)
  • Consider proximity to chimney, electricity (for lighting)
  • Consider ease of wood loading when choosing a location
  • Ensure proper clearances and combustion air
  • The Greenwood Furnaces is not intended for installation inside a mobile home

Use common sense and keep the unit downwind of neighbor's property, protected from foul weather, and as close to the point of heat distribution as possible for responsible use of electricity. Finally, make sure you check with local authorities regarding codes and ordinances that may be specific to your location.

Greenwood Aspen Series

  • The Greenwood Aspen Series wood boilers are designed for outdoor use
  • Ensure local code requirements and HPBA Best Burn Practices are met, including:
    • Property line setback
    • Stack height
    • Distance from neighbors
  • Ensure the top of the Aspen Series is higher than the tallest point of distribution in the heating system

Use common sense and keep the unit downwind of neighbor's property and as close to the point of heat distribution as possible for responsible use of electricity. Finally, make sure you check with local authorities regarding codes and ordinances that may be specific to your location.
